Who we are
Q8tly (q8tly.com and the Q8tly app) is a Kuwait discovery and business-listing service. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
What we collect
- Information you send us through forms — our contact form, submit-business form, for-business waitlist, and business-claim form. Depending on the form, this can include your name, email, phone/WhatsApp number, business details, your message, and, for claims, a document you upload to prove you represent a business.
- Aggregate, non-personal usage counts — we count things like profile views and “directions / call / WhatsApp” taps in aggregate, without identifying you, to understand which listings are useful.
- Cookies and analytics — essential cookies that make the site work, and, where required, non-essential cookies such as analytics are only used after you accept them. See our Cookies page.
Accounts and signing in
If you create an account we store your email address, the name you give us, an account number we generate, the date you created it, which sign-in methods you use, and which version of the Terms you accepted and when.
- Email and password: your password is stored only as a one-way hash. We cannot read it.
- Google: Google tells us your email address and an account identifier so we can recognise you next time. We do not receive your Google password or your contacts.
- Sign in with Apple: Apple gives us an identity token, an Apple user identifier, and — only the first time — your name and either your email address or, if you choose Hide My Email, a private relay address that forwards to you. We store the identifier and the address. We also store an encrypted Apple credential, used for one purpose only: to disconnect your Apple ID from Q8tly when you delete your account. Email we send to a relay address passes through Apple’s relay service, and Apple’s privacy policy covers that step.
Reviews, reports, blocks and hidden reviews
Your reviews — the rating, the text, the listing, the language and the times you wrote or edited them — are stored and shown publicly with the name on your account.
Reports you make, users you block and reviews you have hidden are stored against your account and are private. Nobody else is shown them. Reports are read by our moderators; the person who wrote the reported review is not told who reported it.
Businesses you submit or claim
If you submit a business or claim a listing we store what you entered, the photographs you uploaded, and, for a claim, the proof-of-ownership document. Proof documents are held in private storage that is not reachable from the web, and are deleted when the claim record is deleted.
The app
The app keeps your sign-in session on your device in secure storage.
How we use your information
We use the information you give us to: respond to your messages and enquiries; process business submissions and keep listings accurate; verify business claims, including reviewing documents submitted as part of a claim; improve and operate the service; and prevent misuse, spam, and abuse.
Claim documents are private
Documents you upload to claim or verify a business, such as a licence or certificate, are used only to confirm that you’re authorized to represent that business. They are stored privately, are not publicly accessible, are not posted on your listing, and are not shared except as needed to verify your claim or where required by law.
We don’t sell your personal data
Q8tly does not sell your personal information. Form submissions are delivered to our official Q8tly inbox so our team can act on them.
Who else is involved
We use service providers to run the site, such as our website host, email delivery provider, analytics tools, security tools, and other technical services. These providers process data only to provide their services to us.
Some of our service providers may process or store information outside Kuwait. Where this happens, we rely on those providers to protect the information according to their service terms and applicable law.
Third-party links and apps
Q8tly may include links or actions that take you to third-party websites, apps, or services, such as maps, messaging, phone links, business websites, booking pages, or delivery platforms.
Once you leave Q8tly or use a third-party service, that service is responsible for how it handles your information. Their privacy practices are controlled by them, not by Q8tly.
Email we send you
We send transactional email only — sign-in and password links, and updates about claims and submissions — from hello@q8tly.com. Decisions about your reviews are shown in the app, not emailed. We do not send marketing email unless you subscribe to it separately.
Cookies
We use essential cookies needed for the site to function. Where required, non-essential cookies, such as analytics cookies, are only used after you accept them.

Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, disclosure, or alteration. However, no website, email system, or online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information you’ve sent us, or ask a question about how we handle it. Email hello@q8tly.com and we’ll help.
You can also ask us to delete your account, or ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, by writing to hello@q8tly.com from the address on the account. We answer within 30 days.
Deleting your account
Deleting your account is permanent and immediate. Your reviews are deleted with it, and the ratings they contributed to are recalculated.
Specifically, when you delete your account:
- your account, email address, name, password hash and sign-in identifiers are deleted, and your Apple sign-in is disconnected from Q8tly;
- your reviews and ratings are deleted, including those on closed or removed listings, and every affected business’s rating is recalculated;
- your saved favourites, the users you blocked and the reviews you hid are deleted;
- reports you filed are kept without anything identifying you, so that a decision made about someone else’s content still makes sense;
- businesses you submitted or claimed are kept as editorial records with your account removed from them. A business listing on Q8tly is our own directory entry and stays whether or not the person who told us about it still has an account.
How long we keep information
We keep form submissions and claim records only as long as needed to handle your request, verify claims, run the service, and meet legal or record-keeping needs. After that, we remove or anonymise the information where appropriate.
- Account data is kept while the account exists, then deleted as described above.
- Claim proof documents are deleted with the claim record.
- Deleted content can remain in routine backups for a limited period before those backups are overwritten.
Who can see your information
Your reviews and the name on your account are public. Everything else is seen only by the people who run Q8tly and by the service providers we rely on to operate it, and only as far as they need it to do that work.
We will disclose information where the law requires it, and where we believe in good faith that we must to protect someone’s safety or our rights.
Children
Q8tly is a general-audience local guide and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
This policy is available in Arabic and English. If there is any conflict or difference between the two versions, the Arabic version governs, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
